We get ideas while watching a show, attending a conference, taking a walk, at a networking event then we buy a domain. Sometimes we buy a lot of them, variations of the same one. Domains are typically pretty cheap. I’m a Godaddy reseller JUST for the domain aspect. They do domains well. But are you using the domain? You paid for it. What about all the variations? Why would you pay for something you don’t use?
It’s like buying shoes that only sit in the closet.
WEAR THEM – WEAR THEM ALL!
HOW MANY DOMAINS DO YOU HAVE?
HOW MANY DOES YOUR COMPANY HAVE?
- What are they doing?
- If they are just sitting there without a job – have them FORWARD to your main site. Do not waste the domain registration.
- If you want to use it for some purpose later, change it then.
- What about all of the variations of the same domain? If one is in use, point them all to the same site until you come up with another use.
- Make a note of what you are doing with them so you don’t forget to change the forward, or the renewal if you no longer want to pay for it.
- Real estate professionals, if you have property domains, be sure to have those forward to a ‘work with you’ type of page that is specifically for listings that have sold after that property has sold.
- If you have QR codes to those same domains, either delete them after exporting the list, or continue to use the landing page but edit it to say that they missed this one, but you have more!
